About 12 Axes Test

What this site is

12 Axes Test runs a political values test with twelve axes: government, diplomacy, economy and society, three axes each. You answer statements from strongly agree to strongly disagree, the site works out twelve scores, matches you to the closest of 38 ideologies and draws the result as a passport. Nothing needs an account, and your answers never leave your browser.

It is an independent site, not affiliated with other 12 Axes websites. The design, the text of the explanations, the passport artwork and the Portuguese and Spanish translations were made for this site.

Where the statements come from

The 288 statements, the answer weights, the scoring rules, the seven labels of each axis and the list of 38 ideologies with their four values come from the open-source 12axes quiz, which is published under the MIT license by the SapplyValues project. We use that bank as it is defined there. The ideology descriptions on this site are our own short texts, not copies of encyclopedia entries.

Statements we reworded

A small number of statements in the original bank read as insults or as calls to harm a group of people. We reworded them in a milder tone and kept the direction, so each one still moves the same axis the same way and the scoring is unchanged. One difference in the ideology match: the original compares an ideology's diplomacy value with the trade axis, which points the other way, and this site compares it with the internationalism axis instead.

For self-reflection

The result is for self-reflection, not a scientific measurement. It was not validated on a sample of people and it does not say who is right.
